Biography
Víctor Otero Carbonell (1985) is a self-taught painter from Barcelona. Like many artists, Víctor recalls always being captivated by drawing as a child. In high school, painting began to play a significant role in his life as a personal, expressive, and psychoanalytical tool.
While studying to become an audio technician, Víctor participated in his first group exhibitions. Gradually, it became the focal point around which everything revolved. In 2012, he signed with a Barcelona-based art gallery, taking part in numerous exhibitions while also teaching at an art centre and managing the municipal art gallery in his hometown.
His works have been exhibited in several galleries in Spain, Italy, France, and Norway, including the Museo Europeo de Arte Moderno (MEAM) in Barcelona. His paintings are also part of private collections around the world, from the United States to South Africa.
During his teenage years, Carbonell began painting self-portraits as a means of gaining psychological self-understanding, a practice he has continued ever since.
Over the span of more than twenty years, painting has become Carbonell’s personal diary, allowing him to express his innermost thoughts and emotions.
